Mandatory Covid jabs for staff in England to be dropped as Sajid Javid confirms U-turn.

Health Secretary Sajid Javid made the announcement on Monday evening amid warnings the policy could lead to a major staffing crisis.

He told the Commons: “I believe that it is no longer proportionate to require vaccination as a condition of deployment through statute.”

While he said he would move to scrap the mandate, he said it would be subject to a consultation and potential new variants, meaning the perpetual threat of new restrictions still has not waned.
