the President changed the backing of the currency from gold to silver to make it more affordable to the middle class? Also, it’s demise is due to the fact that everyone became irresponsible and starting taking on unnecessary debt and then they were taxed so high by the people they tried to vote out that they couldn’t keep the economy afloat and the currency was so deflated it wasn’t worth anything.
