Pakistani Troops Targeted With Explosive Booby Trap

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) separatist group released a video showing an improvised explosive device (IED) attack against Pakistan Frontier Corps troops that took place on Oct. 22, 2021.

Based on the footage, the insurgents appear to have buried the command detonated device at an unguarded water or supply point at the base of a hilltop outpost. The blast looks impressive, but even the insurgents' own figures claim a single soldier was killed. The device may have been buried too deep or not enough fragmentation was used in its creation.

The various Baluchistan insurgent groups are fighting for independence from Pakistan as they claim the Pakistan government offers their ethnic group no representation within the government, while extracting resources from their mineral rich province and selling out their ancestral lands to Chinese investors.
