How To Force Reset GPU Clocks

The Nvidia drivers installation installs a command-line tool that you can run utilizing several features. The commands can be run in a batch file on Windows or in a command prompt that is stared with admin privs.

You can use the nvidia-smi command-line script to do a force reset on the GPU's clocks. You can reset the GPU and Memory Clocks instead of having to reboot the rig, Windows, etc.

Why would you want to do this? Sometimes when exiting a miner, it may not exit gracefully and lock the hashrates or clocks so you could not get any better performance out of the GPU. Restarting the rig usually cleared this issue up. Running the nvidia-smi command line with the rest options makes this alot simpler.

You can put the following commands in a batch file and run the batch file as Administrator on Windows. Be sure all mining software is stopped and not running.

nvidia-smi --reset-gpu-clocks
nvidia-smi --reset-memory-clocks
pause
