Why ARE Prepping Channels Not Serious About Prepping??!

This morning, I audited a few fairly large YouTube channels, that shall not be named .. the more I watched, the more it began to occur to me: These channels, some with HUNDREDS of thousands of subscribers, are just NOT SERIOUS about prepping .. and yet - their videos get millions of views, their affiliate merchandising is flying off of the shelves at a record pace, their paid membership rolls are expanding, their live streams are packed with eager fans. What is going on here?
