while this is not breaking news, it is important to realize that taxes are used as a form of gun control. How deep that this form of control goes is much more than making access to your right prohibitively expensive. Taxes on firearms are nowadays (11% excise tax on guns since 1937 has supported wildlife conservation) are used to fund opposition research which is in turn used to justify the passage of more gun control laws.
