Legalists of the scriptures have a zeal for God but they don’t understand the grace of God through Jesus Christ. Romans 3:23 says that ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Sure we are to live upright and holy moral lives. Pastor John himself once believed that he had to practice all of the Jewish laws God gave us in the old Testament. He eventually came to the realization that it is impossible for mortal man to keep every law after he ate a pretzel just prior to sundown. Not realizing that there was leaven in it. We as mortals are always going to fail at keeping one of the laws occasionally. By omission if not otherwise. And to break one of the laws is to break them all. Christ’s Blood covers all sin for those that accept his sacrifice on the Cross if we pray for his forgiveness and make a genuine effort to follow his teachings. Our sins are then covered and God will see Jesus’ righteousness in us rather than our own dirty rags.
