Today, Chip Ganassi announced that he would be selling his NASCAR organization to Team Trackhouse. CGR will continue in other motorsports, including IndyCar. Ganassi said that he had no intentions or plans to sell his NASCAR team, but the offer made by Trackhouse owner Justin Marks was too good to pass up. While financial transactions and amounts were not discussed, the purchase includes all of CGR's assets.

Trackhouse announced that they intend to field two full-time entries next season, with Daniel Suarez remaining in the 99, and a second car, number and driver to be announced at a later late.

Kurt Busch, driver of the CGR No. 1, has been approached by both Trackhouse and 23XI about driving next season. Ross Chastain, driver of the No. 42, after a slow start, has begun to have strong runs in Cup. The futures of both Busch and Chastain are currently unknown.

CGR made the move to NASCAR in 2001 after Chip Ganassi purchased a majority ownership in Team SABCO, which was operated by businessman Felix Sabates. SABCO had opened in 1988. CGR w/Felix Sabates was also one of the teams to join Dodge in their return to NASCAR's Top Series.

CGR's most iconic cars ran from the 2001-2007 seasons, with Sterling Marlin and David Stremme each driving the No. 40 Coors Light Silver Bullett, Jimmy Spencer, Casey Mears and Reed Sorenson behind the wheel of the No. 41 Target car and Jamie McMurray, Mears and Juan Pablo Montoya running the team's 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge.
