3D Embossing Technique

So I was in spotlight the other day it was a brief visit to see if I could find an embossing tool for my Circut when I stumbled across come 3D embossing folders that just happened to jump from the shelf and land into my basket. They were not happy about being on sale for $14 dollars of course!
I really liked the designs and am a fan of embossing papers to create background textures for cards so thought I would jump in and see what all the new fuss was about.
