Why Do The Churches Choose To Be Silent

In these very socially turbulent times, with drastically declining church attendance across the nation, with more people seeking spiritual guidance, and fewer young people seeing religion as irrelevant, one has to ask the puzzling question, why are the churches not outwardly present and engaged as they have been in the past during similar periods?
