There are very few rational intellectuals offering their critical perspective on the war in Ukraine. Olena Lyubchenko is one of them. She recently published an article on LeftEast.org in which she explains why the war in Ukraine started many years ago. It was primarily a war against women and workers and a result of the militarization of her country. In a very honest and profound manner, she discusses aspects of a Ukrainian woman's life that are less covered by the mainstream media; surrogacy, working menial jobs in the West to support their families and rampant domestic violence. These are only a few of the numerous costs of Ukraine’s militarization over the past years. Maria Cernat, the cohost of “On the Barricades”, offers her comments on Olena Lyubchenko’s article and discusses the idea of introducing reproduction in the for-profit capitalist mode of production.
