20220505 - Liberty Minute
The so-called student loan crisis is the government's fault.
I'm Peter Serefine with today's Liberty Minute.
Let's look at a brief timeline of events.
In 1980 the federal Department of Education was created.
The Department of Education pushes the idea that only those who go to college have any chance at success in life.
Thirty years later, in 2010, the federal government took over the student loan program and began handing loans out like beads at a Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans.
The only winners in this timeline have been the colleges and universities that have dramatically increased the costs of degrees.
Now, in 2022, the government plans to do what it always does, make Joe Taxpayer pay for the problems the government caused.
Student loans should not be forgiven, but maybe the colleges should have to pay them.
