RESIDENT SHOOTS AND KILLS HOME INVADER AS POLICE ARRIVE ON SCENE

Police say an intruder is dead after a Clare resident shot and killed him early Thursday.

The Clare Police Department rushed to a home on McEwan Street around 6 a.m. after the resident reported a home invasion in progress.

As police were arriving on the scene, officers heard gunshots from inside the residence. Investigators say the homeowner fired gunshots at the intruder and killed him.

The resident did not report any injuries from the incident.
