Aircraft Crash Went From Bad To Worse

Aug 1989 while stationed in Panama Central America, we had a mission to recover a DC-4 that had landed gear up. Our mission was to use our CH-47C Chinook and sling load the aircraft back to a military base so it could be repaired and returned to service. During the mission the DC-4 started to slip in the sling and the Flight Engineer had to release the load to save our Chinook from being struck, had that happened we too would have possible crashed.
