CSPAN - Discontinuing Analog C Band Satellite Transmission via AMC 11 131 West

The Happy Satellite Nerd Episode 121

In the next few months, C-SPAN will transition affiliates who continue to receive the unencrypted analog version of C-SPAN off the AMC-11 satellite to digital. The analog feed will go dark this fall. The encrypted digital version of C-SPAN (along with C-SPAN2 & C-SPAN3) is located on the Galaxy 30, which will continue to be the primary source for the C-SPAN networks digital signals.

Official notification for this change with more detail will be delivered soon. In the meantime, please know that C-SPAN is committed to providing you and your organization with superior service for signal distribution, satellite authorizations, technical specs, and proper notification of any changes to the distribution of C-SPAN networks' signals. Being the only remaining unencrypted analog feed remaining, C-SPAN needs absolute confirmation of affiliates who continue to receive the C-SPAN analog feed via the AMC-11 satellite.

In this video I tried out looking at the C band Spectrum looking at the L band using a Software Defined Radio (SDR) using GQRX and look at the analog signal using a MA COM 1buhi from the 1980's
