Your Past, Get Over It and Move On

How many of you can honestly admit that you spend far too much time dwelling on the past?

It's OK to treasure the good memories, but it's not OK to dwell on the negative?

By the negative I mean thinking about those people who hurt you or constantly thinking about a time in your life that was extremely difficult.

Paul addresses this situation in Philippians,

Php 3:12-13 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

Why was this so important that Paul had to bring it up?

Because He knew that Satan's greatest weapon in his arsenal is our past.

Want a demonic influence, start think about someone from your past that hurt you, you can feel the evil spirit and it's anger rush into you, you can feel the hate flood you?

Revenge is demonic, it is total darkness? Forgiveness is Light.

Mat 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Forgiveness is the key to your peace, The demonic host want to rob you of your peace by reminding you of your past, Put the past behind you and keep your peace.

Mat 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Matthew is reminding us that we are Children of Light, Children of the Day, we live for the future, our home in Heaven.
