Jacob Klein briefly dated Elana years ago. They eventually broke up and parted ways. Unfortunately, this was the beginning of a nightmare for Elana. Years later after the break up with Jacob. Jacob moves back to the east coast and entered his ex's life again.

Elana, at this point, had already and completely moved on from Jacob. She had an amazing boyfriend named Philip and they both were successful Physician assistants working at the same hospital. She was living the American dream. Philip and Elana eventually wed, but right before the wedding Elana received a message from Jacob and it was enough to make her feel uncomfortable, this message set off a Jacob who was ready to become unhinged.
