Unsolved 1948 - Annie Elizabeth Reeves

The case of 32-year-old Annie Reeves who died in November 1948 following an abortion.

There is very little information about her case but in many cases of abortion left with an open verdict the hand of a third party cannot be ruled out. Acute necrosis of the liver can often be caused by taking herbal remedies and it is possible that Annie Reeves took such herbs to procure her abortion, and or underwent an illegal operation, which was common at the time. However, these possibilities are merely speculation and beyond the findings of her inquest which returned an open verdict.
