Luke Doherty: Social Conservatism Transcends Idea of Progress for Progress’ Sake

Luke Doherty explains how social conservatism transcends traditional party politics, and that the culture we have passed down for millennia is inherently good and as a society, we have a duty to preserve those things for future generations. Doherty also discusses the social ills of postmodernism and cultural marxism, and the insidious infiltration of public institutions, including schools.

Doherty says: “Social conservatism is a belief in institutions working well together, it’s a belief in the family, in other things that transcend the idea of progress for progress’ sake, and the value of tradition… Our conservatism is not about heavy condemnation; it’s about saying that what we have as a society is largely good – even though the current parties are managing lots of its decline in the last 30 years-plus – but ultimately as a culture and the things we have passed down for the last thousands upon thousands of years is inherently good, and we want to pass it on to our children because we owe it to them, and have a responsibility to.”

Luke Doherty is the chairman of the Orthodox Conservatives, a grassroots movement of social conservatives who are operating as a think tank and activist network in the United Kingdom.
