Rapper, entrepenuer, and businessman Sean Combs (also known as P. Diddy) released a letter titled "If You Love Us, Pay Us: A letter from Sean Combs to Corporate America" on Thursday April 8th, 2021. In his letter, he lambasts General Motors (GM) for not investing in black-owned corporations and therefore taking advantage of the black community's investment in their company. He ultimately says that "we are prepared to weaponize our dollars" if corporate America does not accede to his demands. In this powerhouse analysis, Mr. Watson critiques Diddy's framing of the issue and the demands specific to the letter. He explains why Diddy's paradigm in analyzing these issues is incorrect, which jeopardizes the conclusions that are drawn from his paradigm which are noted in the letter.
