Free Yard Sale Toy Saved From the Garbage

We were told if this didn't sell at the yard sale, it was going to the dump. My youngest son couldn't pass up the deal to try to make a buck so we took this broken Peg Perego 4 wheeler home to fix it up. I was hoping it would just need a battery, and luckily that's all it was. We went with a 12v 12AH sealed AGM battery from Amazon https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QPYFBW6 for $30 instead of the Peg Perego battery for $50. A little customization was obviously needed to fit this battery, and what better opportunity to teach him a few things?
