Lunar Eclipse Timelapse 2022

This was a very last minute setup to capture a timelapse of the Lunar Eclipse 5/15/2022. The dark shots were very shaky because of the wind. I didn't realize the cable to my external battery was pulling on the tracking mount every time the gusty wind blew. The light shots stabilized very well because the shutter speed was so fast and there was no blur.

A couple cool things I've noticed... You can see the turbulence in the atmosphere in the light shots along the edges. In the dark shots you can see the that the shadow of the earth is darkest in the center. This dark spot moves across the moon from left to right. You can see the stars in the dark shots which isn't usually possible since the moon is so bright. The moon is also visibly moving since the stars are visible.

Next time, a little planning will do wonders. I need to get my settings right before the event starts so I can switch quickly. Otherwise I had a great night.
