My unwritten mission statement is to take the practical message of Christ to every person on earth and live twenty-five years after I die. The purpose of living "beyond the grave" is because reaching every human is immense. The plan for this mission is twofold: (1) Using technology redemptively and raising leaders who will outlive me, helping to carry this work forward. The Internet is an angry place. It’s one of the sadder commentaries about the Internet period in church history to see how it has become a context to put our sinful hearts on full display before the world. Revealing my wicked heart is nothing new to those who know me, but it is new to have a new place to display it. The Internet is that space for too many of us to lower the gate and march our words out before a world that is keen on finding opportunities to remind us why Christianity is a farce. Because cyberspace seems worlds away, we can begin to think what we do there has little impact. It’s this disinhibition delusion that makes it most dangerous. There is a full-on culture war as social evangelists try to persuade, intimidate, censor, and influence anyone to their worldview. It’s no longer acceptable for conservatives to sit on the sidelines, siloing, hoping for a better day. Silo Christianity is when believers draw lines that separate themselves from those in the culture who need the gospel. They critique the other side but do not engage them. I know the Alpha and the Omega." Facebook is not entirely dissimilar to a funeral parlor with millions of people struggling with various aspects of COVID. Unnecessary Juxtaposition Christ is real, and so is Delta. To over-spiritualize Christ and under-appreciate COVID is not wise, thoughtful, caring, and considerate. Consider Your Audience 1. My COVID journey made me more aware of the dangers and consequences of COVID. 2. My friend, Jolene, just lost her mom due to COVID. 3. Michael, a pastor in Texas, lost his 20-something daughter. 4. My friend, Vicki, is wheelchair-bound and is struggling with whether she should take the vaccine, which could further compromise her body integrity. 5. Two more friends may lose their jobs if they are not vaccinated. Thus, they are working through the conscience issues. 6. A teen may lose her degree program if she does not get the vaccine. Social Media Tips 1. Consider more social media responsibility if it applies to you. 2. Be quick to read and slow to post: if it's a good quote, it will be "good" two, four, or 24 hours from now. 3. Consider posting less on Facebook. 4. Steer away from trite cliches. 5. You don't see those you're posting to, what you post is in a crowd: consider the audience. 6. It makes us look unnecessarily foolish to the non-Christian. Let Christ be the offense, not our silly sloganeering. I deleted the meme because it did not add value.

"Believe all women" is one of our more popular cultural cliches that has brought harm to relational problem-solving. Frequently a slogan becomes a simplified way of thinking about a matter, and the longer the saying goes unchallenged, the more bad ideas glom onto it. Comorbidity is one or more physical issues that can exacerbate a person with COVID. For example, a 60-year person with no comorbidity will have a better chance of overcoming COVID than a person of the same age with multiple comorbidities. Because it matters. Some people are at more risk than others. I struggle when someone asks me whether I have the vaccine because a person could decide based on how I made mine. But we are different people. I have no comorbidities. It's never apples to apples, but always apples to oranges, and the perplexing them to me is how few folks talk about the comorbidity problem. There are several considerations to make the vax decision, e.g., conscience, mandates, natural immunity, health-risk issues, and comorbidity. 1. Older adults are more likely to get severely ill from COVID-19. More than 81% of COVID-19 deaths occur in people over age 65. The number of deaths among people over age 65 is 80 times higher than the number of deaths among people aged 18-29. 2. Cancer 3. Chronic kidney disease 4. Chronic liver disease 5. Chronic lung diseases 6. Dementia or other neurological conditions 7. Diabetes (type 1 or type 2) 8. Down syndrome 9. Heart conditions 10. HIV infection 11. Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) 12. Overweight and obesity: In the United States, 36.5 percent of adults are obese. Another 32.5 percent of American adults are overweight. In all, more than two-thirds of adults in the United States are overweight or obese. 13. Pregnancy 14. Sickle cell disease or thalassemia 15. Smoking, current or former 16. Solid organ or blood stem cell transplant 17. Stroke or cerebrovascular disease, which affects blood flow to the brain 18. Substance use disorders 19. Tuberculosis A person has control over some of these comorbidities, and I recommend that if you can change your health, that is your best course of action. If you do not eat healthily or workout weekly or have a vibrant spiritual life, please consider making those changes.

I do not know if you should get a vaccine. I would not impose my view on you because the Bible does not tell us what to do specifically about this matter, which brings us back to purposeful freedom. But what I do know is that you cannot take the role of a spectator. You must activate your faith, which is the only kind of faith there is. You must make many decisions and then reacquaint yourself with them each day, adjusting what you must, and marching forth as an ambassador of Christ, courageous regardless of the cost.
