RULES:
The rules are the same as regular chess except for these changes. The object of the game is to be the first player to advance a pawn to opposite side of the board, or to capture all your opponent’s pieces. If both players pawns are unable to move, then the game ends and the player with the farthest advanced pawn wins. If that is a tie, then the player with the most pawns wins. Layout the instructions then place the board on top. Use the quick references to remember how pieces move. There are 11 different ways to play that slowly teach how to play chess. In the first 7 ways to play, setup the same by placing white’s pawns on the first row and blue’s on the last. Pawns are not allowed their initial double step move option. Therefore, en passant is not allowed.
1. Power pawns: only play with pawns.
2. King’s Conquest: Place kings in the middle spaces, sliding the pawn forward. Kings are allowed to be captured. Your King may not move adjacent to your opponent's king and therefore may not capture it.
3. Raging rooks: place rooks on the first column, sliding the pawn forward.
4. Tricky bishops: place bishops on the 2nd column, sliding the pawn forward.
5. Mean queens: place queens on the 4th column, sliding the pawn forward.
6. Rescue the queen: place queens next to the board. A player’s first pawn to reach the opposite side of the board, promotes to a queen. Pawns after that may promote like normal. The first player to capture all their opponent's pieces wins!
7. Krazy Knights: place knights on the 5th column, sliding the pawn forward.
Practice and learn by mixing any of the setups for 1 through 7.
8. Once you’ve played them all, you can use all the pieces, sliding all the pawns forward 1. The object is to checkmate your opponent’s king. You are not allowed to castle.
9. Advanced play. Play the same as option 8 but allow double step move for pawns, en passant, and castling. You can also try out these different starting positions: queen, king, bishop, kight, rook. Or flip the board and setup: rook, knight, bishop, queen, king
10. Blind Quickquess: place a barrier in the center of the board during setup. Players now setup their pieces on their first two rows however they like. Once both players are ready, remove the barrier. Flip a coin to determine who goes first.
Continue playing the variations until you’re certain how all the game pieces move. When you’re ready, flip over the game board to play a full game of chess!
