RULES:
The object of the game is to create and expand lines of color and shape in order to score the most points. Setup. Get paper and pencil for keeping score. Place all the tiles in the bag. Each player draws 6 tiles and keeps them hidden from their opponents. These tiles make up your “hand”. Each player declares the largest number of tiles they have that share a single attribute, either color or shape, but not duplicates, to determine who goes first. If there is a tie then the older player goes first. Play then proceeds clockwise.
On your turn, do one of 3 things:
-Add one tile to the grid, then then draw a tile to bring your hand back up to 6.
-Add two or more tiles to the grid. All tiles played from your hand must share one attribute, either color or shape. Your tiles must be played in the same line, although they do not have to touch each other. Draw as many tiles as you played to bring your hand back to 6.
-Trade some, or all, of your tiles for new ones from the bag. To do this, set the tiles you don’t want to the side, then draw new ones from the bag, then return your traded tiles to the bag. If you are unable to add to the grid on your turn then you must trade in at least 1 tile.
The first person to play a tile to the table, creates the grid. Tiles must always be placed faceup on the grid. When adding tiles to the grid, all tiles must be connected. Two or more tiles in a row or column that are touching create a line. A line must be all the same shape or color. A line of color may only have 1 tile of each of the 6 shapes and a line of shapes must only have 1 tile of each of the 6 colors.
When you create a line, you score 1 point for each tile in that line. When you add to an existing line, you score 1 point for each tile in that line, including the tiles that were already in play in that line. You can score from multiple lines in a single play. You score a bonus 6 points whenever you complete a line of 6 tiles, which is called a quirkle. Lines may not be longer than 6 tiles. The player who ends the game receives a bonus 6 points.
When there are no more tiles to draw from the bag, play continues except players no longer draw new tiles after they play. The first player to play all their tiles after the bag is empty, ends the game. The player with the highest score wins!
