Cop fires at man threatening people with knives

Cops chased down, tased and opened fire on a gangbanger who was assaulting and threatening random pedestrians in Lower Manhattan on Friday morning, according to cops and police sources.

The 25-year-old suspect — a member of the Front Side Crips nicknamed “Boogie” — first threatened a woman with a broken bottle at Bowery and East 3rd Street around 8 a.m., police sources said.

Then, at Lafayette and Grand streets, he slapped a woman who was walking with a child and threatened her with a broken bottle, according to the sources.

He stole two knives from Ruby’s Cafe on Mulberry Street near Spring Street and used them to threaten a man at Grand and Lafayette streets, the sources said.

Cops chased him to Bowery and Stanton Street, where they tased him twice, with no effect, according to the sources.

Then the suspect ran to East Houston Street and Bowery, where he was tased again — again to no avail, the sources said.

One officer then fired a single round at him, but missed, cops said.

He was finally stopped when officers tased him twice more at East Houston Street and Second Avenue, police sources said.

He was taken into custody and brought to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, police said. Cops described him as an “emotionally disturbed person.”

Charges are pending against the suspect, who has a prior bust for firing a gun at someone in Brooklyn, according to the sources.

A police officer was taken to Bellevue Hospital for ringing in the ears, cops said.

The two knives were recovered, authorities said.
