We go inside an abandoned military bunker buried in sand at the abandoned Salton Sea Navy Base

In 2014 we found "the small" lesser-known ammo-bunker at the abandoned Navy base (technically a "Naval Station") at Salton Sea (California). This ammo bunker (technically known as a 'magazine') is located a few hundred yards from the "Big" bunker that most people are familiar with. This smaller bunker was buried by the sand-dunes years ago and it took us several hours to dig-out the entrance so we could lower ourselves inside. The small rope you see was to help us climb back out as it's about a 10-foot drop or slide down the sand to get inside. The Salton Sea Navy Base (Naval 'station') was abandoned by the U.S. Military in the 1990's after occupying it since it was built in the early 1940's as part of the Manhattan Project - code named "Sandy Beach". Around the year 2000 the land was used for a short time for large-scale water desalination experiments in cooperation with "The Salton Sea Authority", and it appears they were using this bunker for storage before they left it to be covered by the sand-dunes.
It was a fun and exciting adventure to find this bunker and see what was inside!
