Soco Falls, Cherokee, NC -- 4K Cinematic

Soco Falls is an absolutely gorgeous waterfall on the Cherokee Reservation Land close to the Maggie Valley near the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The drive to Soco Falls is scenic but you may also take several routes, either through Cherokee proper or the Blue Ridge Parkway also has an exit nearby. The Maggie Valley Mountains offer a scenic backdrop to this part of North Carolina. Soco Falls Trail is located off of I-19 which moves along the scenic Maggie Valley. It is an extremely short hike at 0.2 miles RT and only a 39 ft elevation change. The trail is pretty well-manicured with a built wooden platform to view the falls from if desired. There is an opportunity to venture to the base of the falls, which the trail descends drastically and is a bit more precarious. There were several ropes and such to assist in the dangerous way down to the bottom. I would only recommend this lower trial for able-bodied people who feel comfortable. Wear proper shoes if you are planning on going to the base. There appear to be several hotels and rest areas along the route, so spending the night to make the most of the trip should be easy. Please remember on this short hike to slow down and enjoy the journey. This is one of the WC 100 Challenge.
