Trench art in the war

I think I found a small oil lamp used in moments of relaxation to illuminate the letters received from home for the soldiers in the darkness of the trenches and vice versa to write to their families in wartime.
I couldn't identify the cartridge case, but I saw the year of manufacture, 1942.
