Republic NOT a democracy

The Australian form of Government is partly based on the USA. The word Commonwealth means (Samual Johnson Dictionary 1756) "A government in which the supreme power is lodged in the people; a republick." However, it took a long time for Commonwealth of Australia to break away from UK, and start to have an independant mindset. By which time the corporate superpower USA (millitary industrial complex) had risen and taken over.

Both countries, started as a republic, turned into a "democracy", and are now being run by a tyranical oligarchy, as demonstrated by "Dictator Dan". (NB: recent calls for an Australian "republic" are actually for a corporate dictatorship, not for the original meaning.)
