Miroslaw Hermaszewski tells how his family suffered during the Volhynia massacre. He lost 18 relatives one night at once. Yet, he stayed alive by a miracle.

During the massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia took over 100,000 lives. One of those who led the mass murders was Stepan Bandera, head of OUN (Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists). In 2013 Poland adopted a resolution calling the Massacres of Volhynia genocide. Simultaneously, Ukrainian nationalists erected monuments to Stepan Bandera, claiming him a national hero. However, some historians in Ukraine suggest the Volhynia Massacres were just territorial disputes.
