UKRAINIAN forces blew up a low-flying Russian helicopter in a targeted attack, the footage shows.

The military helicopter was seen flying low to the ground over some fields in Ukraine when it was hit by Ukrainian artillery. The plane included 9 people, a pilot and 9 Russian paratroopers sent on a reconnaissance mission in the area controlled by the Ukrainian army. The scene showed that all 9 people were killed.

The Russian plane exploded into a fireball before crashing to the ground. A large test of black smoke billowed behind the helicopter. As it swirled into the ground, it exploded on impact, breaking into pieces. This is a eloquent video proof of Russia's terror and Ukraine's great resistance.

As the conflict in Ukraine passes the 100-day mark, the country's President Volodmyr Zelensky further announced today that Russian forces have killed civilians.

He said Russian artillery hit an early 17th-century Ukrainian Orthodox monastery in war-torn eastern Ukraine on Saturday, engulfing a church in flames.

The Russian Defense Ministry denied any involvement and accused the Ukrainian army of setting fire to the All Saints church before retreating.

The Svyatohirsk Lavra monastery complex belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate and is located near Russian positions east of Donetsk, one of two areas the Kremlin is focused on capturing.

Flames can be seen ripping through the wooden walls of a church with onion domes in footage posted by Mr Zelensky on his official Telegram channel.

He wrote: "Russian artillery again attacked Svyatohirsk Lavra in present-day Donetsk region. Destroyed All Saints Monastery. It was consecrated in 1912.

“It was destroyed for the first time in Soviet times. It was then rebuilt to be burned by the Russian army.”

He called for Russia to be expelled from the United Nations cultural agency UNESCO and said no military targets were present at the site.

"Every church burned by Russia in Ukraine, every school blown up, every memorial destroyed proves that Russia has no place in UNESCO," he added.

Two monks and a nun were killed in shelling on June 1. Russia denies targeting civilians.

The monastery settlement of Svyatohirsk Lavra dates back to 1627. The All Saints Church was built from wood in 2009 to replace the church that was demolished in 1947.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, which remains loyal to Moscow after the 2019 schism, said last month it would break with Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin downplayed the importance of supplying new US weapons to UKraine.

He said that Russia was easy to deal with and destroyed dozens of weapons supplied by the US, state news agency RIA reported on Saturday.

Putin made the remarks in an interview with state television, RIA said. It will be shown on Sunday.

The US has promised to deliver four long-range M142 HIMARs to Ukraine, which are advanced weapon systems capable of hitting targets up to 45 kilometers away.
