Advice for organizing your own social event/practice evening.

Especially with beginners, don't have songs that are 8 minutes long too frequently. The reason is the move set may be really small for some folk and it gets increasingly embarrassing doing simple turns and crossbody leads for a very long song.
Ensure you have water or some refreshments available.
Don't strictly play Salsa, try to work in some Bachata as well.
See if you can get more experienced people to attend with the purpose of being 'Taxis' as in they spend a lot of time dancing with newer people.
Make sure you have enough space as well as seats.
If you can do some 'animation' basically follow the leader in doing footwork.

The first time don't be surprised or disappointed if minimum people show up, but as you get better at hosting events more people will come. Take pictures,(ask for permission) post them on social media, watermark yourself or your event. People love pictures of themselves and that marketing does a lot more for events than you think.

Do you take classes? I ask because, if you do, your instructor can probably recommend songs / playlist.
