Are private classes worth it ?

If you can afford it.
Private lessons are definitely worth it.
Depending on the teacher of course.
but a one on one, can provide amazing feedback on areas of strengths and weaknesses.
If you have a follower, they could be great to bring along.
You get individualized criticism, something that you do not always get in group classes. (Criticism may not be the right word)
Group Classes + Social Dancing + private lessons = An amazing dancer !!!

But due not, private classes do not replace group classes nor socials. You need all 3, the holy trinity (private classes + group classes + socials)
Private classes give you the one on one feedback.
Group classes let you dance with other people, gain new experiences.
Social dancing is the testing ground. Test what you have learned.

I think private classes alone are a bad idea.
But private classes + group classes + dance socials . Is beneficial for any dance level. Especially a beginner. Doing those three things, you will improve infinitely faster than a beginner who just does group classes + socials.
( a beginner who does group classes + socials + 1 Hr a week private class with Eddie Torres / Griselle Ponce / Johnny Vazquez / Leon Rose. VS a beginner who just goes to group class and socials. Not even a question who will improve faster.)
There is something to be said about the benefits of one on one training with a highly reputable instructor.

Lastly if you do go to a private class, record the session. For future use, so you can always go back and listen to the notes.
