It solves one problem and creates another. It prevents the excessive carbon burn off I was experiencing but makes it a 50/50 crap shoot as to whether it is heat treated properly or not. For mo this now, I’ve been considering an electric knife makers kiln. It would virtually eliminate all guess work and chance from a proper and accurate heat treating temperature. It will also temper the knives at a more precise temperature allowing me to achieve the same results, time after time.
