From Ecstacy To Amazon - On The Edge Podcast with Shaahin Cheyene

Our guest this week is Shaahin Cheyene, who has a fascinating story starting with the beginnings of raves in the 90’s, and progressing to an Amazon Master today.

8:00 - Our Story starts in the 90’s at raves waaaay in the beginning. Shaahin, at the time friends with Pasquale Rotella of EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) set out to try to figure out how to make actual money in the rave scene. The people were certainly there, but where was the money? It didn’t take long to figure out that it was drugs. The drug dealers went home with all the cash.

10:30 - Knowing selling illegal drugs is not a solid long term future, he came up with an alternative to the MDMA and Ecstacy that was being sold at the parties. This was a completely legal, herbal alternative to the drug and It. Took. Off.

20:00 - Selling the supplement in drug stores, adult stores, new-age stores, bookstores, and other small businesses. He got the attention of Larry Flynt, The President, the DEA, the FDA, and everybody else desperate to either work with him or stop him. Links to his appearance on Montel Williams below. We go over the process in detail.

44:30 - We talk about the struggles of being an entrepreneur in the United States as the child of immigrant parents. Once they found a bit of success, they even bought a home that had professional squatters living in the backyard. Learn how they grew from this and proved that kindness is always the best answer.

57:10 - Most believe that the path to entrepreneurship is coming up with a product to sell, but this isn’t entirely true. The real answer is finding an answer to distribution. If you don’t have a distribution plan, you have no way to get your product to the people, and therefore you don’t have anything to sell. Shaahin’s current income is based exactly on this concept, and we go over the basics. How did Amazon become as big as they did? Bezos may or may not have learned a thing or two from Walmart…maybe…

01:09:00 - Selling on Amazon is easier than you think. As Shaahin says, ‘the riches are in the niches’ and he goes over what that actually means and how you can cash out on that industry that’s wide open for the taking.

01:21:00 - We go over some recommended reading and advice for being better at starting and continuing your business. In Shaahin’s book Billions, his forward was written by Chris Voss, which should say something immediately about the people he knows.

01:30:20 - Learn about the art of accepting things for their imperfections. Shaahin goes over an experience he had in Japan that left him feeling empty, and what he learned about it after asking others about his experience.
