Doctrine of salvation - Part 1

Sin is breaking God’s law or falling short of the standard that God has set. So sin is always against God. Although David committed adultery with Uriah’s wife and was responsible for his death, he sees his sin as against God - not Uriah.
Psalm 51:1,4 Have mercy on me, O God... Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge.
