Merriam Webster's dictionary defines the verb usage of "Gaslight" as 'a [false] psychological manipulation of a person or group over an extended period of time, with the purpose of wanting to cause that person or group to question what their own senses demonstrate as reality.' In extreme instances, the action of Gaslighting can cause loss of confidence, consciousness or even suicide among those who fall victim to it's charm. Gaslighting has the psychological impact of poison or mental disease on the recipients. Note, this only works so long it occurs in an information vacuum where true posits of information remain unavailable for sustained periods of time. Communist dictatorships have perfected the employment of Gaslighting on a national scale to literally get away with genocide.
