The pH of the pot can determine if there is decay in the pot... organic orchid media will become acidic relatively quickly based on how wet the media has to stay for the culture of the orchid. Inorganic orchid media, will of course not break down, but, orchid roots will decay in a semi hydroponic or self watering set up. This can possibly change the pH in the pot, lowering it from the original happy average. The 2 hour soak of this pot with plain RO water had 2 possible conclusions: pH drops because the orchid roots have rotted, or the pH drops because of how I pH my fertilizer and supplements during the 2 year period that the orchid has been in the pot. #Orchids #ninjaorchids #coelogyne #growingorchids #selfwatering #orchidsandph
