David Averdesian speaks about the loss of a colleague, Alicia, and the expectations to go about his day ignoring his loss and go about teaching the day as if nothing had happened.

He received a call on May 26th about an emergency faculty meeting for 6:30AM that lasted exactly two minutes to announce the passing of his colleague.

He met up with a distraught student later that day and was looked for the SRO who had not been there for three days that week and the school psychologist that had retired and had not been replaced. No one knew.
