Too Much Sleep Can be Bad for Your Health #shorts
Can you've too much of a good thing when it comes to sleep? It's true that a good night's sleep is important for health.
But too much sleep has been linked to a number of medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease and increased risk of death.
The amount of sleep you need varies significantly throughout your life. It depends on your age and activity level, as well as your overall health and lifestyle habits.
In times of stress or illness, for example, you may feel an increased need for sleep.
Although sleep needs vary over time and from person to person, experts generally recommend that adults get between seven and nine hours of sleep each night.
For people who suffer from hypersomnia, oversleeping is a medical disorder. The condition causes sufferers to suffer from extreme fatigue throughout the day, which usually cannot be remedied even by napping. It also causes sufferers to sleep unusually long at night.
Many people with hypersomnia suffer from anxiety, lack of energy and memory problems as a result of their almost constant need for sleep.
Obstructive sleep apnea, a disorder in which breathing stops briefly during sleep, can also lead to an increased need for sleep. This is because it interrupts the normal sleep cycle.
Of course, not everyone who oversleeps has a sleep disorder. Other possible causes of oversleeping include the use of certain substances, such as alcohol and some prescription medications.
Other illnesses, such as depression, can also cause people to oversleep. And then there are people who just want to sleep a lot.
