Violent crime is on the rise in Manitoba’s capital with the number of homicides in Winnipeg now on track to surpass the annual record.

What’s more worrying? An alarming number of young people and teenagers are getting involved.

There has been an increase in violent crime across Winnipeg and in many cases, youth are involved. There are concerning cases that outreach workers say show a disturbing trend.

“We seem to be in a spike, for sure, and the demographic does seem to be younger at this time,” community outreach worker Mitch Bourbonniere tells Global News.
