Leaving The Netherlands

Cold but dry conditions dominated our exit from Amsterdam. The Autobahn awaits us.
The plan I decided on was a stop at the East German city of Magdeburg some 550kms from Amsterdam.
I would try to avoid this unless absolutely necessary. The real aim was to reach the Polish border today and bypass Deutschland. This was probably an optimistic aim, nevertheless only the weather conditions would dictate the final outcome.
Our first stop in Poland was to be the city of Lodz, some 1100kms from Amsterdam. Regardless, even reaching the Polish border on that same day would have made us very happy.
The tyranny of distance unfortunately was against us. The border was an additional 170kms from Magdeburg.
