Can this basil be saved?

(introducing "Rocket" the speedy kitten) Lori Fiechter here on a chilly Saturday morning in September. Much too chilly! Nearly record cold chilly. But it didn't actually frost and what's left of the garden survived. Basil can't take temps even close to freezing--it turns black at refrigerator temperatures--so I covered it. Was that enough to protect it? Check out the end of the video...which also features a cameo performance by Rocket, the "will-you-please-take-this-stray-kitten" kitten.
