60,000 people are missing in China after massive flooding in Guangxi

More than 1.4 million people in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China have been affected by heavy rains since early June.
Floods caused by rains have intensified on some waterways, including the Guijiang, Xunjiang and Xijiang Rivers.
Five people were missing in the village of Gudu in Rongshui County as a result of the collapse of a wooden house. A group of more than 100 people was sent to rescue operations.
The local authorities of Wuzhou City suspended the movement of boats on this section of the Xijiang River, heavy rains also hit many areas of Guilin, causing severe flooding.
It is reported that in Yangshuo County, more than 1,000 employees and students were trapped in three schools due to rising floodwaters.
Heavy rains are forecast to continue in the region until June 27.
Large swathes of southern China have been hit by severe storms, causing urban flooding and rural landslides as the first summer rains peaked.
According to government weather forecasts on Sunday, heavy rain will continue in the provinces of Guizhou, Jiangxi, Anhui and Zhejiang, as well as in Guangxi until the beginning of next week.
In southern China, the weeks preceding and following the Dragon Boat Festival in early June are traditionally marked by unstable and rainy weather.
