The Last Days of the Last Czar

The Last Days of the Last Tsar was produced in 1993. It was Directed by Anatoly Ivanov. It is a sympathetic and bittersweet docudrama about the last days of Czar Nicholas II and his family. The time frame of the film is predominantly that from the Czar's abdication and exile to the brutal execution of the entire Romanov family. The filmmakers have made excellent use of rare documentary footage (and some familiar footage) and integrated it with staged re-enactments by actors.
