I know it's hard to get past the fact that someone who is supposed to love and protect you could actually be harming you. But narcissistic abuse is real, and it leaves lasting scars on the victim's psyche. Sadly, many adult children of narcissists are often confused about their upbringing and its effects on them.

Narcissism or Narcissistic personality disorder (NDP) is an extreme form self importance that can lead to an inability to empathize with others and see things from their perspective. It can also cause people to feel superior to others, making them think they're entitled to special treatment.
