#Cuba 🇨🇺 | From the Güines prison where human rights activist is being held since April 16, comes a phone call with his fellow activist Zaqueo Báez. This is the audio of the call from August 13. Maykel Herrera Bones is an UNPACU activist and CubaDecide promoter. On April, he participated in a protest with his neighbors against the long electric blackouts from the state. For this, he was charged with public disorder and became a political prisoner. Maykel is HIV positive and is not being properly treated for this at the prison. He announced he is under a hunger strike. He is vulnerable to Covid 19. Cuban prisons are known for their horrible conditions. Recently, activist Yosvani Aróstegui Armenteros died after 40 days in a hunger strike as a political prisoner. We fear for Maykel’s life and demand the regime set him free along with a political prisoners.
