This is sad. The hero is lucky that the perp”s buddy didn’t come in and shoot him in the back. He will be lucky if no one shows up at his house when he is asleep intent on revenge. In many cities, the DA will prosecute YOU for being the good guy. My advise to most people is to not go the hero route. We have to increase police presence, elect good DAs, and build lots of jails.
