आदिदेव नमस्तुभ्यं प्रसीद मम भास्कर ।
दिवाकर नमस्तुभ्यं प्रभाकर नमोऽस्तु ते ॥१॥

Adideva Namastubhyam Praseeda Mama Bhaskara
Dhivakara Namastubhyam Prabhakara Namostute ||1|

Meaning:
O primordial Lord, salutations to you! Be gracious to me.
O Lord, salutations to you, the first, the lustrous, the creator of days and of light! || 1 ||

सप्ताश्व रथमारूढं प्रचण्डं कश्यपात्मजम् ।
श्वेत पद्माधरं देवं तं सूर्यं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥२॥

Saptasva Rathamaarudham Pracamdham Kasyapatmajam
Swetapadmadharam Devam Tam Sooryam Pranamaamyaham ||2||

Meaning:
I bow to the Sun, mounted on a chariot drawn by seven horses, the formidable son of Kashyapa, holding a white lotus flower. || 2 ||

लोहितं रथमारूढं सर्वलोकपितामहम् ।
महापापहरं देवं तं सूर्यं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥३॥

Lohitam Rathamarudham Sarvaloka Pitamaham
Mahapapaharam Devam Tam Suryam Pranamamyaham ||3|

Meaning:
I bow to the Sun, mounted on a red chariot, grandfather of the entire world, and remover of great sins. || 3 ||

त्रैगुण्यश्च महाशूरं ब्रह्माविष्णु महेश्वरम् ।
महापापहरं देवं तं सूर्यं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥४॥

Treigunyam Cha Mahasuram Brahma Vishnu Maheswaram
Mahapapaharam Devam Tam Suryam Pranamamyaham ||4|

Meaning:
I bow to the Sun, remover of great sins; who is composed of the three qualities; who is valiant; and who is Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshvara. || 4 ||

बृह्मितं तेजःपुञ्जञ्च वायुराकाशमेव च ।
प्रभुत्वं सर्वलोकानां तं सूर्यं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥५॥

Brmhitam Tejasampumjam Vayurakasa Mevaca Prabhustvam
Sarvalokanam Tam Suryam Pranamamyaham ||5|

Meaning:
I bow to the Sun, the lord of all the worlds, who is all-pervasive light, and who is the wind and the sky. || 5 ||

बन्धूकपुष्पसङ्काशं हारकुण्डलभूषितम् ।
एकचक्रधरं देवं तं सूर्यं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥६॥

Bamdhukapushpa Samkasam Harakumdala Bhushitam
Ekacakra Dharam Devam Tam Suryam Pranamamyaham ||6|

Meaning:
I bow to the Sun, adorned with a garland and earrings, who rides in a single wheeled chariot, and who is crimson like the hibiscus flower. || 6 ||

तं सूर्यं लोककर्तारं महा तेजः प्रदीपनम् ।
महापाप हरं देवं तं सूर्यं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥७॥

Tam Suryam Lokaktaram Mahatejaha Pradipanam
Mahapapaharam Devam Tam Suryam Pranamamyaham ||7||

Meaning:
I bow to the Sun, remover of great sins, creator of the universe, who shines with great refulgence. ||7||

तं सूर्यं जगतां नाथं ज्ञानप्रकाशमोक्षदम् ।
महापापहरं देवं तं सूर्यं प्रणमाम्यहम् ॥८॥

Tam suryam Jagatam natham, gyana prakasha mokshadam,
Mahapapaharam Devam Tam Suryam Pranamamyaham ||8||

Meaning:
I bow to the Sun, remover of great sins; lord of all the worlds; who imparts knowledge, wisdom, and liberation. || 8 ||
